Introduction to industry standard website design and coding

Wordpress.com is a perfect introduction to industry standard webdesign and coding.  This free hosted website creation online app allows pupils to create fully functional website which are based on the industry standard wordpress.org content management system. The advantage to using the .com site is that there is very little which can go wrong – themes and scripts cannot be ‘broken’ on the free version of the software.

The website allows for direct html coding which an instant preview of what the page will look like live.  Teachers can set up moderated accounts on one website and approve content created by students. The coding process is exactly the same at that used in industry.

The interface is intuitive and suitable for use by KS3 and KS4 students – either to teach html coding or for use in creating cross curricular web content. Wordpress.com pages or sites are also easy to integrate into a school’s website or VLE.
