For Citizenship and English KS3 classes, Orange have provided educational resources on their products and how to stay safe.
Learning and Teaching Resources
Orange provides a great number of resources available for free from their website. Their teaching resources include topics such as mobile phone safety and cyber bullying, and can be linked to such topics in English and Citizenship for Key Stage 3.
The website offers free downloads of activities for use in the classroom, and they are complemented by relevant video resources to get the message across and engage the more visual learners. Sometimes the video is the main resource, such as in the ‘Text Bullying’ topic, with a downloadable document that provides teacher notes to use in the lesson. Other lesson plans include activities that could also be used in English topics, with the ‘Mobile Theft’ section offering a lesson plan about having students act as a public relations team, who are challenged with the task of drafting and re-drafting three different documents.
Free DVDs are offered to accompany the teaching resources, as is the case in the ‘Safety Online’ section of the teaching resources from Orange. Each section has a thorough run-through of lesson plans and offers a wide range of activities to keep the students engaged and interested throughout. The teacher using the resources will have full confidence in delivering these lessons as they are well thought out and structured. Other teaching materials are present, such as storyboards and key messages from the Orange company about their aims for their education and safety programmes.
With a very diverse range of teaching ideas and lesson plans, Orange are sure to have something on their website that you can link into your curriculum, in a number of subjects (especially English and Citizenship).
