New Image Bank Created Specifically for Educational Use

Wednesday 19th January 2011

Leading providers of learning and knowledge products, Encyclopaedia Britannica are set to inspire at BETT 2011 with the launch of a brand new online resource, Image Quest.
Britannica Image Quest, an image bank of over one million high quality images, addresses the need for teachers and students at all levels to have instant access to educational images such as photos, illustrations, diagrams and maps that they can use freely in projects, presentations, websites, lesson plans and interactive whiteboard activities.

The vast collection of images can be searched by subject, the collection it comes from or by keyword. Searches can also include combinations of these.

The search yields a collection of relevant images in miniature, which can be clicked to show bigger versions of the image and further information about copyright details, captions, credits, citations and related searches.

Once an image has been chosen, it can be downloaded, e-mailed or printed.

The images are rights-cleared for non-commercial, educational use, including school websites, newsletters, newspapers, flyers and bulletins.

The new resource was launched at last week’s BETT show, the world’s biggest technology in education event.
