London 2012 Resources for Primary and Secondary and New Primary Curriculum Draft All on One Sheet

Last week, resources for teachers wishing to mark London 2012 were shared. This week, another website offering a range of excellent teaching ideas and classroom activities across the primary and secondary age range has been selected.

Get Set

Get Set offers educational materials applicable to Early Years, Key Stage 1, Key Stage 2 and both KS3 and KS4 in secondary schools.

There is an image bank that can be used as a resource for projects or other creative work that teachers may wish to plan for their pupils to engage with. The website is divided into different age ranges meaning all the resources can be easily browsed and the most appropriate selected for a year group or according to the level of challenge and demand required for classes being taught. Teachers at primary and secondary level will find that the website also offers assembly ideas that can be used in schools.

It is a website that has a wealth of resources, teaching ideas and suggested activities that primary and secondary school teachers should find invaluable in inspiring work on London 2012 and the Olympic and Paralympic Values.

Primary Tools

The second resource, Primary Tools, is aimed at primary school teachers. Very often, assessment documents and the curricular requirements span several pages. This means a lot of paper and a lot of navigating between these. Or, several documents open on the screen to move between. Primary Tools offers some key documents condensed onto one sheet. A great resource is the Grammar and Punctuation aspect of the draft curriculum for English on one page so that the pitch, expectations and progression can be seen as an overview from Year 1 to Year 6. This is really handy for getting a quick overview of what the curriculum may involve and Literacy Subject Leaders will save a lot of time as all the information has been conveniently put in one place.
